This digital art piece, created for a competition, is a visual metaphor woven with quiet alarm. It was my attempt to capture a haunting reality: how the waste we scatterโespecially plastics and microplasticsโreturns to us in unexpected, even dangerous, ways.
At first glance, the image seems inviting: a dining table laid with grace, flowers in bloom, crockery gleaming. But peer closer, and the truth emergesโplates heaped not with food, but with scraps of waste, brittle skins, and synthetic remnants we thought weโd left behind. It is not a meal, but a mirror.
This artwork urges us to rethink what we throw away. The plastic we forget does not forget us. It seeps into soil, slips into waterways, dissolves into dustโand returns, silently, into our food, our bodies, our lives.
As a young student and citizen, I believe in the power of awareness. Pollution is not a distant villain; it is a shadow cast by our own habits. This piece serves as a reminder that every wrapper matters, every choice leaves a trace, and every effort to recycle, like that of Recycler Rumaan, is a step toward healing.
To protect life on land, we must begin by honouring the ground beneath usโand reshaping what we leave behind.
